[Top 8 expected features of Windows 8]

Microsoft is on the edge of finalizing the Milestone M2 build of Windows 8 by next month. It is expected that Microsoft will release the next version of Windows in early 2013 with introduction of lots of new features and technologies in it. If we see the changes came in the technology in last 2 years, they are outstanding. The world is going more mobile with the advancement in mobile technologies and cloud services.

The seamless power integration in chips and there implementation in devices made it possible for developers to think and develop beyond the user imagination. The Tablets and new dual core processor enabled mobiles are fine example of it. Intel is already working mobile devices which will run Windows 8 on them and other PC manufacturing companies are also working to make Tablet PCs that are capable to run the newer version of Windows on them.

Microsoft is also keeping itself ahead by implementing and developing the new features in next version of Windows to take the full use of new technologies out in the market. I have tried to gather a list of few new features of Windows 8 according the leaks, news and rumors all over the web.

They are as follows: (예상되는 주요 기능 8가지는 다음과 같습니다.)

  1. 128-bit support: Windows 8 will support 128- bit address scheme for IPv6 protocol.
  2. Faster data processing: Comparing the previous releases like windows Vista and Windows 7, Windows 8 is likely to have faster bootup process even with fair configured machine.
  3. A better version of browser, may be IE10 or any other: From its previous browsers’ release, Microsoft is not able to satisfy the needs of browser market. While competitors like Chrome, Firefox, Opera, Safari, Flock, etc., providing cool features are now becoming first preference. So, With Windows 8 Microsoft will not surely want to lack in this department. For this, a next generation Web Browser is very much required.
  4. System on Chip (SoC) architecture support: Microsoft has announced at CES 2011 that the future release will support System on a chip (SOC) architecture including ARM-based systems from partners NVIDIA Corp., Qualcomm Inc. and Texas Instruments Inc.
  5. Integration with Windows App Store: Just like Apple’s idea of having an App Store for Mac OS X, Microsoft is also planning to have a App store for Windows 8. Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7 is already launched with this support.
  6. Tablet support: Windows 8 is planned to run well on laptops, PC and Tablet. The last gadget is of concern as laptops and PC are categorized differently from tablets; and for tablets, a specific OS is required. Also, almost all the Operating Systems from Microsoft requires the integration of mouse and keyboard in device. Microsoft needs to build a tablet-friendly OS that supports and helps third-party apps too!
  7. Dual User Interface (UI) Mode: Windows 8 may also get Dual User Interface. Windows 8 might have one mode of traditional enhanced GUI based user interface shell which have all the multi-touch capabilities having icons and taskbar in it and the other one newly developed Natural User Interface (NUI) based on WP7 Metro UI tiles which will allow users to interact with there next generation PC without any input devices rather than there hand/voice gestures.
  8. Cloud Services Support: Windows 8 will may have native support to cloud services. As Google is developing Chrome OS and HP is working on Web OS. So if Microsoft wants to keep itself ahead in OS market then it must have to introduce Cloud Support to next version of Windows 8.
